Shri Maharaj Ji in a general conversation with devotees (1)

Keeping the Heart & Mind clean

We wash our clothes with clean pure water to cleanse them and rid of impurities. If we wash them with dirty water, they will only get worse. Similarly, we have to wash our hearts clean by inviting the pure personalities in. If we invite the impure into our heart, it will only get worse.

The only pure personalities are God and Saints. Therefore, it is in our best interest to fill our hearts with God, His names, His forms, His pastimes, His qualities, His abodes and, most of all, His Devotees... the Saints!

Ved Vyas Ji was once asked as to what in the Universe was most fortunate. His first response was - KaliYuga.

Why?

In SatYuga the spiritual benefit humans received from doing devotional sadhana for 1000 years is equivalent to the spiritual benefit from sadhana done for 1 year in TretaYuga. The same benefit is realized from doing sadhana for 1 month in DwaparYuga. And in KaliYuga the same spiritual benefit is received from doing sadhana for 1 day.

Such is the graciousness, mercy, compassion of Shri Krishna. Knowing that humans would be so attached to the world, He made it so easy for us to reach Him. So, take advantage of this causeless mercy and earn as much as you can.

Cutting edge meditation

Pick a spot at home, in your office, in your car... on the ground, on the table, in the air... anywhere! Visualize Shri Radha Krishna sitting or standing at that spot. Only you can see them. Every time you pass by that spot, every time you glance there, envision them there. Wave to them, speak to them... all in your mind! You will become comfortable with it. Then designate a spot in every room... increase the number of place where you visualize them. Soon it will become a habit. And then, a time will come when you will not be able to live without seeing them all around you!

Always engage the mind in thoughts of the Supreme Lord. Envision Shri Radha-Krishna to be with you as you go off to school or work in the morning, as you cook a meal or clean the house, as you walk on the beach or go off to sleep, even as you play computer games. When settling yourself in the car, put your Beloved Lord in the passenger seat and buckle Him up. Before you start eating, close your eyes and offer the food to God. Says Shri Krishna in the Gita, "Dedicate all activities to Me, thereby making all your actions acts of devotion."

There are only three things that the souls can desire; Bhukti (material objects - made by Maya), Mukti (union with Brahm - formless aspect of God) and Bhakti (eternal love for Bhagwan). One who does not love and desire bhukti can attain Mukti. Mukti does deliver God-Realization. However, a higher level of desire and love is when a soul rejects mukti and asks for only the selfless love for Bhagwan.

The world itself is a Guru in itself that is always teaching the individual soul by constantly showering unhappiness and pain, thereby feeding detachment. This detachment from the world constantly pushes the soul towards God.

Maya is like the loving mother who slaps her child so that the child does not walk on the wrong path, and pushes the child towards God.

Why would God need to incarnate merely to perform the simple tasks of destroying the rakshas?

The main reason for incarnations of God is so that humans can relate to, be attracted to and become attached to the form of God that is somewhat more within our grasp. His sole purpose is to show mercy and compassion to His children. The incarnations allow us to form a human relationship with Him... relationships that we are already adept at.

If you were getting down to eat and amongst all the goodies, a pile of human waste was placed, how would you feel? For most of you, your mood will be turned off and might just walk away.
Then imagine, your Guru, who gets to experience the ultimate bliss in embracing Shri Krishna, is willing to look at you, and even embrace you! He is giving up on divine bliss to love and encourage you.
If such a soul who received that special embrace, thinks to himself about the enormity of the love and compassion in that embrace, it will continue to purify his heart and mind (antahkaran).
