Meditating on Krishna’s Form by Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj

Image
Meditating on Krishna’s Form by Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj (Translated from a speech at Brahmand Ghat, 1965) Leave your physical body here and think of yourself in a Divine body, like Krishna’s body. In your Divine body go towards Golok, Krishna’s eternal abode. In Golok the sun, moon, air, land and hills are Divine because Krishna Himself has become all these. Every object there glows with a Divine effulgence. Now imagine that you are walking there along the gently flowing Yamuna river. On either side there are Divine meadows. The plants and trees on its banks are blossoming with flowers. They are attracting honey bees, which are droning around them. On the banks of such an enchanting Yamuna, which are studded with sentient, Divine jewels and precious stones, is Brahmand Ghat. Having reached there, you can’t find Shyam Sundar. It is possible He has gone somewhere else to play. Look for Him; He may be coming soon. Look for Him in all directions. He will come only wh...

Importance of Human Life

Image
Importance of Human Life.............. Lecture by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj There are three things that are attained only through God’s grace and all three are very rare. Number one is human body. Human birth has been given to us through the grace of God. It is not our doing. Ramayan says – After millions of births; after revolving in 8.4 million forms of life, the individual soul is granted the rare human birth. God gives us a chance to attain the ultimate goal of our life. If we fail to attain the aim of life, then as the Vedas say – –we will be forced to revolve in 8.4 million species. But we did not listen to God. Therefore, we are going round and round. Then once again God took pity on us and gave us the human form. So, this human life is attained with God’s grace and it’s very rare. You may think, “I have attained the human birth as a result of virtuous actions of previous lifetimes, and therefore why should I consider this to be God’s grace?” But I ask you; do y...

I am His Vs He is Mine

Image
I am His Vs He is Mine Translation of Lecture by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji  Maharaj There are three entities: the lover, the Beloved and Love.   That which unites the lover and the Beloved, is called Love.   In other words, Love is the intimate union of the lover and the Beloved.   The lover is the one who loves the entity "Beloved".   And the "Beloved" is he, towards whom love is directed.   He is the one who possesses Divine Love. This "Love" is God's most intimate personal power, which can be attained only by the Grace of a Rasik Saint.  It cannot be attained through personal effort. This is why even the greatest yogis, paramahansas beg for Divine Love.  The treasure house of this Love is Shree Krishna and His associates alone.  No one else can lay claim to owning this power called "Love".  No personality controlled by Maya, not even the king of heaven, can occupy the seat of the Beloved.  Therefore, no material pe...

Ayo braj ras bechan varo

Image
Ayo braj ras bechan varo. The seller of  braj ras  or the nectar of selfless divine love, Shri Krishna, has descended in Braj. Jo ras nigamagamahun agam soi, det vanacharin kahan karo. This same  braj ras , which is unattainable even by the Vedas and other scriptures, is being given freely by Shri Krishna to the illiterate Gopis. Jo braj ras hit shuk sanakadik, latan patan tan kari daro. In order to attain this  braj ras , even the greatest paramhansas and gyanis like Shuka, Sanaka and others have descended in Braj in the form of creepers, plants and trees. So ras as jehi lagi Shiva-shankar, nar tey nari tanu dharo. In order to attain this  braj ras , Lord Shankar assumed the form of a Gopi. So ras piyat soi jo vako, nij tan man pranan haro. This  braj ras  can only be attained by the one who surrenders his body, mind and soul to Shri Krishna as its price. So ras as ‘Kripalu’ chhin chhin badh, ras Vaikuntha lagat kharo. Jagadgur...

Kanha To Pai Kaun Duhave Gaiya?

Image
Kaun duhave gaiya, Kanha topai kaun duhave gaiya? ( Oh Kanhaiya! Who is going to have You milk their cow?) Thakurji (little Krishna) used to go to the house of  Gopis .  This was a daily routine and He used to beg and plead,  “O  Gopi ! Have Me milk your cow. I will milk your cow.  You don’t need to work so hard.”  All the  Gopis  had a meeting and they all decided that they should tease Lala (little Krishna).  So, today when Thakurji went and said, “Have Me milk your cow,”  all the  Gopis refused.  “I don’t need Your help to milk my cow.  I will do it myself.” Kanhaiya was taken by surprise as to what could have happened?  The  Gopis  said, “Listen to the reasons.” Karo rang aru kari kamariya, bidak jayagi gaiya . (Seeing Your dark complexion and Your black blanket, the cow will jump back.) The color of Your body is black and You wear a black blanket; (seeing that,) the cow will jump back,...

Sadguru Madhuri - Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaji's Kirtan

Image
Bali, shri gurudev kripal ki. A devotee feeling deep respect and gratitude for his Spiritual Master says, “I offer my everything to my gracious Guru.” Jinke divya vachan suni chutat, granthi avidya jal ki. By listening to his divine teachings, the knot of one’s mayic ignorance is cut asunder. Jinke varad-hasta ke sanmukha, chal na chaal kali kaal ki. After being blessed with his grace, one is not affected in the least by the influence of the Age of Kali (the Age of Darkness). Jinke banat bigari sakat nahin, maya shakti gupal ki. After becoming his servant, one remains absolutely safe from God’s unconquerable power, maya. Jinke yugal charan parasat man, pavat rati nanda lal ki. By merely touching his lotus feet with devotion, one is blessed with the love of Shri Krishna. Lakhat ‘Kripalu’ anugrah guru ke, leela ladli lal ki. Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj says in the words of a devotee, “Through the grace of my Guru, I am able to drink the nectar of the ever new di...

Relationship of God and Guru

Image
Relationship of God and Guru In our scriptures and also in the world three kinds of situations are written about and described… In our scriptures and also in the world three kinds of situations are written about and described. In some places it is written that God is the greatest. It is also written that God and Guru are equal. It is also written that the Guru is greater than God. An ordinary person, who reads the scriptures on his own cannot understand which of these three is correct and so he becomes confused. I am now going to reconcile these three. These three statements are, in fact, correct. But they contradict each other – how then could they all be correct? In the scriptures it is written that God is the greatest, so this point is certainly correct (Shvetashvatara Upanishad 6/8, Gita, 11/45, Bhagwatam, 3/2/21 and 2/4/40). All these verses say that there is no one, nor will there ever be anyone equal to God – so someone being greater than God is completely out ...

Vasant Panchami 2012

Image
Vasant Panchami This festival is celebrated at the beginning of the Spring season, when vibrant yellow flowers in the mustard fields are blooming, creating a joyous atmosphere everywhere. In Braj, from the time of Vasant Panchmi, devotees begin to sing Holi songs in the Temples. Shri Maharaj Ji dresses up in lovely yellow garments. Devotees chant special Holi songs, dance in spiritual happiness and play Holi of flower petals throwing them on each other, and Shree Maharajji showers his Grace by throwing flowers on them.   “Pad Kirtans” sung during this season usually recount how the exasperated gopies, took their sweet revenge on Shri Krishna and his friends. Tired of being teased and harassed by Shri Krishna and his friends, the gopies decided to retaliate by pelting the darling of Braj with cow-dung, mud, dyes made out of local flowers, vermilion powder etc. If an unfortunate Gopa (Shri Krishna's mate) happened to be caught by the gopies, he was  forcefully d...

Christmas and New Year thoughts.

Image
Christmas and New Year is literally around the corner, for me it’s always been a day for celebration. It’s not only a day when I think that Christ was born but also a day where I celebrate the love of my life Radha Krishna together under the Kalpavriksha tree. When I was much younger Swamini Sushree Gopeshwari Devi will come to Malaysia (during the mid 80's to late 80's) after the annual Sadhana program had finished in India. At times she would stay with us till the New Year with 12 hours of Hari Nam Sankirtan and to conduct satsang. During that period we would celebrate Christmas and New Year in unique fashion. A day before the 24th of December we would go out to the small forest and look for a Pine tree and we made sure it was at least 5 feet tall in minimum height. It was an arduous task getting the tree chopping it down and putting it into the back of the car with its fern like twigs jutting out of the car window we would drive through town bringing it back home. T...
