Vasant Panchami This festival is celebrated at the beginning of the Spring season, when vibrant yellow flowers in the mustard fields are blooming, creating a joyous atmosphere everywhere. In Braj, from the time of Vasant Panchmi, devotees begin to sing Holi songs in the Temples. Shri Maharaj Ji dresses up in lovely yellow garments. Christmas and New Year is literally around the corner, for me it’s always been a day for celebration. It’s not only a day when I think that Christ was born but also a day where I celebrate the love of my life Radha Krishna together under the Kalpavriksha tree. When I was much younger Swamini Sushree Gopeshwari Devi will come to Malaysia (during the mid 80's to late 80's) after the annual Sadhana program had finished in India. At times she would stay with us till the New Year with 12 hours of Hari Nam Sankirtan and to conduct satsang. During that period we would celebrate Christmas and New Year in unique fashion. A day before the 24th of December we would go out to the small forest and look for a Pine tree and we made sure it was at least 5 feet tall in minimum height. One may put rigorous effort for countless ages and may practice karm, gyan and bhakti, but that will not lead him towards the attainment of God or freedom from the bondage of maya. It is possible only through the Grace of God. But to receive the Grace of God it is necessary to prepare the receptacle (our heart). That has to be done by the individual soul. And what does it mean? Our heart has been impure since eternity due to worldly attachments. Removing all these worldly attachments, you have to purify your mind completely. Neither God Himself nor any Saint can do it for you until you make the effort. God is eternal and so are we; God it not senior to us.
