How does present day meditation that's taught differ from ancient meditation taught thousands of years ago in India?   Although there are an abundance of different styles of meditation, yet it is unlikely that there is any meditation being taught today which did not have its roots in ancient India.   Someone may add their own personal twist to give a different flavour to any particular form of meditation, but the main categories of meditation remain the same as they have always been.   The reason is that our mind has two main facets: the intellectual mind and the emotional mind.   These are two facets of the same mind.   Thus, there are two main categories into which all forms of meditation are divided: intellectual and emotional.   Intellectual meditation is done from the brain area; the activity of the mind is focused in the 'head' or 'brain' of the meditator.   Emotional meditation is done from the heart area; the activity of the mind is focused in the

Understanding God means removing our ego

Understanding God means removing our ego   Chaitanya Dev Gaurang Mahaprabhu says that a person becomes a Saint when the Divine love of Krishna appears in his heart. Until then, even the celestial gods of intelligence like Saraswati and Brihaspati cannot understand a Saint’s words, actions, and behaviour. Even great yogis and munis cannot understand a Saint. Occasionally his condition may appear to be like of a crazy person. Sometime he may seem normal. He lives in an ever-changing state. Depending upon his Divine bhav (state of Divine love absorption), he acts accordingly. From inside he loves you, but

Choosing a particular tradition, Guru & aspect of God

I'm unsure about how to choose a particular denomination in Hinduism. How would someone new to Hinduism pick a particular tradition, Guru, aspect of God, etc.? What influenced you to decide to worship Radha Krishn and to follow Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj?  The term we use in Hinduism for denomination is ' sampradaya ', which means a lineage or tradition within Hinduism which was established by the followers of a particular Saint after he left the earth planet. The truth is that the original Master doesn't start the sampradaya . All Saints essentially teach the same thing: to surrender to God to receive His Grace and through His Grace attain Divine Bliss. This is the essence of Hinduism and the essence of the teachings of all true Saints in history. Internally all Saints are one; and essentially, their teachings are the same. However, the details of their explanations of the Hindu scriptures may appear to differ, but only on the surface. It is diffi
